The Blackfoot continue to maintain language, social and ceremonial structure particularly in Canada where a rich musical heritage continues to thrive. Several tracks on this CD are by female vocalists. It is part of an Arbor Records series that includes other recordings of different tribal traditions. Each liner booklet contains an explanation of the musical structure of the songs sung by each particular tribe by noted musicologist, Brian Wright-McLeod.
