Graham Green (Dances with Wolves, Pow Wow Highway), Adam Beach (in his second film role) and Gordon Tootoosis star in this movie about a teenage boy's struggle to make sense of his life when repatriated to his Anishinaabe homeland. Johnny Three Bears is a despondent, sullen boy until shown warmth and understanding from the Ojibway Grandfather who gives him a new start in life when they both capture a wild stallion for Three Bears to learn to ride and race in the annual Yellow Quill Race. Along the way he meets his rival Paul LeBlanc who knows the real reason Three Bears lost his mother as an infant in a fire. The two become bitter enemies until a life and death situation brings them together. A good family film with lots of horse scenes.90 minutes.
