This visually stunning and moving film tells the story of brash bush pilot, Charlie Halliday (Barry Pepper) and a young, very ill Inuit woman named Kanaalaq, (Annabella Piugattuk in a stunning acting debut) Their plane crashes hundreds of miles from civilization and Charlie finds his white man’s tools are useless in the harsh environment. He must learn to rely on the generosity and knowledge of Kanaalaq, in order to survive. Together, the pair must overcome language barriers, cultural differences, life-threatening temperatures, and prejudices while living off the land. Inspired by the short story "Walk Well My Brother" by Farley Mowat. Directed by Charles Martin Smith (Never Cry Wolf). Special feature section includes a wonderful interview with Mowat and Smith. An appropriate film for older children.
