Songs were recorded at the New Year’s Celebration on December 31st, 1996 in Porcupine on the Pine Ridge Reservation. Songs performed were composed by past and present members of the group and include intertribal, contest, and social dance songs. New Year’s Celebrations are a traditional Lakota event which involves masquerading and other fun activities beyond the singing and dancing.
