In the early 1970's. the Kicking Woman Singers was founded by four brothers; Melvin "Chicken Boy" Kicking Woman, Louis John Kicking Woman, and Woodrow "Tinyman" Kicking Woman. The group has been passed down from generation to generation and is now lead by the fourth generation. The songs on this album come from the Blackfeet, Siksika, Kainia, Piikani and Cree.
