Billy McClellan, Sr. was a member of the Sac & Fox/Otoe and Iowa Tribes of Oklahoma. He was an accomplished peyote singer and Fancy dancer and was employed by the Iowa Tribe of Oklahoma as an alcohol and abuse counselor and held sweats at the pow wow grounds every week. He was the president of the Native American Church of Oklahoma. He started dancing at an early age traveling with his family’s dance troupe. He received a degree in drafting from Oklahoma tech but chose to live a traditional life and traveled to pow wows across America and Canada. He placed first in fancy dance competitions across the country. He passed away in September of 2004. This album was recorded a year and a half before his passing and contains 36 peyote songs.
